Tips & tricks
This countdown works for anything with a date: birthdays, weddings, exam deadlines, product launches, holidays, retirement, or the end of the school year. It updates every second and keeps working in the background.
Your countdown is fully shareable. The event name and target date are encoded in the page URL, so a link like ?date=2027-01-01&event=New+Year opens exactly the countdown you set up — no account, nothing saved on a server.
For popular events we also have ready-made countdowns — New Year, Christmas, Ramadan, Eid and more — that target the next occurrence automatically, so you don't have to enter a date at all.
Frequently asked questions
How do I count down to a specific date?
Choose your target date and time in the picker and give the event a name. The page immediately shows a live countdown of days, hours, minutes and seconds, updating every second.
Can I share my countdown with other people?
Yes. The Share button copies a link that contains the date and event name, so anyone who opens it sees the same countdown. Nothing is stored on a server.
What can I use a date countdown for?
Anything with a deadline — birthdays, weddings, holidays, vacations, exams, project launches, retirement, sporting events or the school year ending.
Does the countdown keep running if I close the tab?
The countdown is calculated from the real date, so whenever you reopen the page it shows the correct time remaining — it is always up to date.
What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
The display reaches all zeros and shows that your event has arrived. If you set a time, it counts down to that exact moment.
Is there a countdown for holidays like Christmas or New Year?
Yes. We have dedicated countdowns for New Year, Christmas, Ramadan, Eid and other events that automatically target the next date, so you don't have to set anything.
Do I need to create an account?
No. The countdown is free, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser.
